If you're Canadian and plan to live in a foreign country for more than three months, take advantage of the Registration of Canadians Abroad service provided by Foreign Affairs Canada.
The registration will be used by the Foreign Affairs Department to contact Canadians with urgent advice and information in the case of an emergency, or if there is a natural disaster or civil unrest.
The service is also available to Canadians spending less than three months in a country where there are potential problems. To identify problem areas, check the Foreign Affairs Canada Country Travel Reports.
